September 2007 saw the London launch of MAYA, a new Lounge and Club located in the heart of London’s West-End. The Club’s maxim is inspired by New York’s velvet rope culture as it shuns the overly-used member’s only rule. The New York-style door policy means connected and fashionable urbanites come to the club to hear the world’s finest DJ’s and performers play on MAYA’s hedonist’s stage. The interior mixes exotic and eastern elements with a strong New York vibe. Think bespoke furnishings, industrial ceilings, dark rich wooden flooring, potted palm trees, and tucked away lounge areas - all seductively illuminated by beaming, backlit walls. Proprietors Markus Thessleff and Marc Boyan wanted to bring glamour back into the west-end, which meant investing in one of the country's most state-of-the art sound and lighting technology systems, including the UK's only Fogscreen projection. Performers such as Razorlight's Johnny Borrell, Juliette & The Licks, Duran Duran's Roger Taylor, Daft Punk's Gildas and Florence and the Machine have all performed live at the club. Maya regularly hosts events where the nightlife elite and clubbing cognoscenti come to party and dance the night away.
