Concrete Architectural Associates have been asked to transform the building situated on the Hobbemastraat 2 into a modern nightlife establishment. Separated areas have given the building a unique identity that coincides perfectly with the concept of The Mansion. It continuously feeds the curiosity of the quests. Through the usage of modern techniques, the entourage and old style of the building have been preserved in a very contemporary manner. The classical ornaments of The Mansions interior form a unique contrast with the modern ceilings and elements. This had resulted into a total package that coincidentally breathes modernity and timelessness.
The Mansion has three atmospheres where entrees, cocktails and beverage may be enjoyed. The Mansion cocktail menu is managed by Andrea di Gioia. These are made by professional cocktail shakers – from Italy, England and Holland- under Andrea´s supervision. The basement provides late night dining opportunities. Special on the menu is the music, and the late night snacks. This is also the locations of the three grotto´s – separate rooms that can be rented, with a private waiter. The grotto´s are furnished with soft materials, warm colors and light.
The restaurant is located on the second floor. The style rooms of the past have been restored in a respectable manner. Because of this, the restaurant has several salons that, with their great candle-holders, candelics and excessive ‘pieces de resistance’ give the quest the notion of being invited to an upper-class mansion. The Chef Cuisine Chan Lap Yan, originally from Hong Kong, prepares his Cantonese and Peking cuisine in his own individual characteristic manner. By incorporating these different variations within the menu, The Mansion will introduce Modern Chinese Cuisine to Amsterdam in a similar manner as has been done in New York and London. A team of highly trained staff are well informed about the ingredients, preparation and beverage, almost making the menu superfluous.
